The Return Visit
The return visit is just as important as the first for several reasons. In some instances, you will need follow-up treatment to complete a procedure; in other cases, regular routine cleaning will only be needed but just as important. Our website is provided to give you as much information as possible to maintain good oral care in between visits through our dental education and dental resources site.
Registering changes to your patient information and scheduling your appointments online can help save time prior to your next appointment. As soon as we are able to retain a secured server that we believe will ensure patient privacy, we will make patient information registration online available.
Feel free to inquire about how much time should be allowed for your next appointment so that you may plan your schedule.
Check-Ups
Our focus is on preventive dentistry and timely check-ups. We endeavor to detect cavities and prevent dental problems. Preventive and early treatment are the most effective measurements you can take to keep down the cost of dental health care.
We will mail a reminder when it is time for your next check-up. Please call for an appointment when you receive this card.
At the time of your next check-up visit, please advise our staff of any changes in your address, phone number, or insurance coverage.
Scheduling Appointments
To make an appointment, simply call our office at 202.331.1575, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can also access or Online Appointment Form to schedule an appointment.
Appointments are made to try to meet your busy schedule. When a time is not available that is convenient for you, our office will contact you should a patient call us to cancel an appointment.
Canceling/Rescheduling Appointments
We understand that schedules change or emergencies arise. Please be courteous in contacting our office if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment so that we can accommodate other patients who may be waiting for a more convenient time for an appointment.
As much as possible, please contact our office by phone at least 24 hours in advance of canceling or rescheduling an appointment. Also, there are rare occasions whereby we will have to cancel your appointment. Every effort is made to contact you prior to your arrival so that you may not be incovenienced. Cancellations and rescheduling of appointments can be made online but not less than 48 hours prior to scheduled appointment.
Arriving at the Office
Arriving at the office a little early can be helpful to both you and our dental team. In some instances, we can see the patient right away so that you may be able to leave the office a little earlier. In other cases, we may have some questions to ask you that would take some time and may delay your seeing the dentist.
If you believe you will be late for your appointment, please contact our office so that we can accommodate other patients while we wait for your arrival.
Patient History
At your first visit you were asked to complete several forms including information about your medical history so that we may provide the appropriate treatment keeping in mind any medications being taken by the patient. It is just as important to keep our office informed of any changes in your medical history since your first visit.
Changes in Medical History
Information that will be helpful to know are:
- Changes in patient's general health and medical history
- Allergies to new medications
- Changes in family medical history
- Recent injuries to head or mouth area
- List of new medications currently being taken
- Is patient pregnant since last visit (in cases that x-rays need to be taken)
Examination
The most valuable service we can give is preventative care which can only begin with a thorough and complete examination. Many signs of dental problems can be detected through a visual inspection of the oral cavity; sometimes assisted with x-rays.
Cleaning
Cleaning is a preventive procedure that is important to have done at least every 6 months, sometimes more often for some individuals.
Services
We provide a variety of services to meet your dental health care and treatment needs.
Many services can be completed in one appointment where other treatments may require scheduling several appointments to minimize any inconvenience to the patient.
