New Patient Information
The First Visit

The first visit is important for several reasons. In some instances, it is the patient's first experience with dentistry; in some cases, an individual has had a previous unpleasant experience. Our website is provided to give you as much information as possible so that your visit to our office is both pleasant and helpful.

Scheduling Appointments

To make an appointment, simply call our office at 202.331.1575, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can also access or Online Appointment Form to schedule an appointment.

Appointments are made to try to meet your busy schedule. When a time is not available that is convenient for you, our office will contact you should a patient call us to cancel an appointment.

Canceling/Rescheduling Appointments

We understand that schedules change or emergencies arise. Please be courteous in contacting our office if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment so that we can accommodate other patients who may be waiting for a more convenient time for an appointment.

As much as possible, please contact our office by phone at least 24 hours in advance of canceling or rescheduling an appointment. Also, there are rare occasions whereby we will have to cancel your appointment. Every effort is made to contact you prior to your arrival so that you may not be incovenienced. Cancellations and rescheduling of appointments can be made online but not less than 48 hours prior to scheduled appointment.

Arriving at the Office

Plan to be at the office for approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours for your first visit that includes a thorough examination to assess a dental treatment program.

Arriving at the office a little early can be helpful to both you and our dental team. In some instances, we can see the patient right away so that you may be able to leave the office a little earlier. In other cases, we may have some questions to ask you that would take some time and may delay your seeing the dentist.

If you believe you will be late for your appointment, please contact our office so that we can accommodate other patients while we wait for your arrival.

Patient History

At your first visit you will be asked to complete several forms including information about your medical history so that we may provide the appropriate treatment keeping in mind any medications being taken by the patient.

Facts to Know

Information that will be helpful to know and have available when completing the forms are:

  • Patient's general health and medical history
  • Allergies to medications
  • Family medical history
  • Previous injuries to head or mouth area
  • List of medications currently being taken
  • Is patient pregnant (in cases that x-rays need to be taken)
Examination

The most valuable service we can give is a thorough and complete examination. Virtually all dental problems are easily detected in the early stages and can be treated economically and comfortably at that time.

The examination is a complete visual inspection of the oral cavity along with an necessary x-rays to reveal any unforeseen problems.

Consultation

After a thorough examination, there will be a consultation during which we will present our findings and recommendations.

We will explain to you the the dental treatment plan, amount of time and money that treatment, should any be needed, will involve. We are most happy to answer any of your questions at this time.

Check-Ups

Our focus is on preventive dentistry and timely check-ups. We endeavor to detect cavities and prevent dental problems. Preventive and early treatment are the most effective measurements you can take to keep down the cost of dental health care.

We will mail a reminder when it is time for your next check-up. Please call for an appointment when you receive this card.

At the time of your next check-up visit, please advise our staff of any changes in your address, phone number, or insurance coverage.
